Clearly in this case, Boston's loss is New York's gain. Tina Cervasio was just as lovely and personable off the air as she seemed to be in front of NESN's cameras, and she was also an excellent reporter. Good luck, Tina...somebody at NESN is going to have some mighty big shoes to fill.
MSG SIGNS TINA CERVASIO AS A HOST AND REPORTER
FOR NIGHTLY SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT SHOW "MSG, NY"
New York, NY, March 20, 2008 – MSG announced today that the network has signed Tina Cervasio as a host and reporter for MSG and MSG Plus (formerly FSN New York). Cervasio will serve as a co-host for MSG’s nightly sports and entertainment program "MSG, NY." In addition, she will contribute feature reports for MSG and MSG Plus as well as serve as a sideline reporter for the MLS New York Red Bulls coverage on MSG. Cervasio will begin appearing on-air toward the end of March.
This announcement comes after MSG increased its signature show "MSG, NY" from five to seven days a week and expanded the show to a one-hour format. "MSG, NY" includes highlights, in-depth features and analysis on the top sports and entertainment news in the New York metropolitan area. ChevyOffers.com is the presenting sponsor for the program.
"We are excited that Tina is joining MSG and MSG Plus, and look forward to the fresh approach, energetic personality and knowledge she brings to complement our sports and entertainment programming," said Lydia Murphy-Stephans, executive vice president, programming and production for MSG Media. "Tina’s strong background in sports broadcasting, combined with the fact that she is a tri-state area native, make her a great fit for our networks as we continue to bring viewers the top stories in New York sports and entertainment."
Cervasio will share hosting duties on "MSG, NY" with Jason Horowitz and Jonathan Coachman. Contributing reporters for the show include Scott Lasky, Jill Martin and Eddie Trunk, along with special appearances by Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier, Stan Fischler, and Dave Maloney. On New York Red Bulls broadcasts, Cervasio will join analyst Shep Messing and play-by-play announcer Steve Cangialosi.
From 2006 to 2008, Cervasio was the Field Reporter for the Boston Red Sox, on the New England Sports Network (NESN), where she reported live from the field for both the pre and post-game shows as well as from the field during games. Away from the ballpark she produced feature packages and exclusive interviews with players, one of which garnered her a New England Sports Emmy nomination in 2006. Also on NESN, Cervasio served as lead correspondent for "Red Sox Hot Stove," "Red Sox Report" as well as other specials and magazine shows, while also contributing to "NESN Sports Desk."
Before her time with NESN, Cervasio was a sports anchor and reporter on WCBS-TV (New York), covering local professional and college sports. Cervasio first appeared on the national television scene in 2001 on NFL Sunday Ticket as a reporter, co-host and anchor. She has also hosted Animal Planet shows for numerous American Kennel Club Championship Dog Shows and canine sports competitions.
Cervasio also has a strong background in radio, including work for the Olympic Games on Westwood One Radio. In 2006 at the Winter Games in Torino, Italy, Cervasio was the play-by-play announcer for Women’s Hockey and an Update Anchor. At the 2004 Summer Games in Athens, Greece, Cervasio served as the voice of men’s and women’s Gymnastics and contributed as a studio analyst for other programming. Other radio assignments for Cervasio include NFL sideline reporting, 20/20 update anchor on WFAN Sports Radio New York, sports anchor on "Imus in the Morning" on MSNBC and WFAN, and traffic and news anchor for the Shadow Broadcasting Networks.
