A quick look ahead..

For those, like myself, who constantly look away rather than worrying about where I am or what I'm doing (movie reference anyone?) here's the upcoming schedule for MLB with the first game of the World Series as the first date on the baseball calender.

It's not like there's an epic ALCS battle in the making between the Olde Towne Team and a worthy opponent.

Some important days in the near future to circle as far as Cy Young (Nov. 13) and Rookie of the Year Award (Nov. 12) and AL Manager of the Year (Nov. 14) announcements, as well as the last to offer salary arbitration to former players who have become free agents (Dec. 1).

November 13       AL Cy Young Award announced

November 15       NL Cy Young Award announced

November 19       AL Most Valuable Player Award announced

November 20       NL Most Valuable Player Award announced

December 1       - Last day for teams to offer salary arbitration
                   to their former players who became free agents.

December 3       - Hall of Fame Veterans Committee voting announced

December 3-6     - Baseball Winter Meetings - Nashville, Tennessee

December 6       - Major League Rule V Draft - Nashville, Tennessee

December 7       - Last day for free agents offered salary arbitration
                   to accept the offers.

December 12      - Last day for teams to offer 2008 contracts to
                   unsigned players.
