What a great night at the Lyric Little Bandbox last night...You could see how special Buchholz's stuff was when he was at Double A Portland earlier this season, and you could also extrapolate what kind of a role he could play in middle relief in the playoffs this autumn if they instilled some kind of "Joba Rules" type restraints on him.

The 23-year-old is currently at 140 1/3 innings, which means he was about 15 or so innings left in his arm this season before the Sox development staff shuts him down for the year, and it will be interesting to what September has in store for him.

Going back to last night, Buchholz had an amazing 18 swings and misses in 115 pitches, after not throwing more than 98 pitches or seven innings this season. That's more swings and misses in one start than Curt Schilling has had in almost a month.

Here's a little overlooked tidbit from Mike Lowell last night when he was asked if -- while he was manning third base -- he half-expected to O's to drop a bunt down to break up the no-hitter.

“They wouldn’t get out of the stadium, they would be a massacred. There’d be a new Boston Massacre.  Actually, Brian Roberts, in the bottom of the eighth when I got to second, goes, ‘What would you do if I dropped down a bunt?’ (I said) ‘Nothing because they’ll kill you. He was totally joking because he wasn’t going to do it. I really wasn’t expecting them to do it, especially after it got out of hand.”
