It’s been a rough night and a very uneven season for the Big Schill, and tonight’s meltdown in Atlanta was definitely one of the low points. In his first start without a strikeout in the last 14 years, Schill looked eminently hittable and struggled mightily to get his fastball into the 90-mph.

A quick look at the month-by-month numbers for the Big Schill…you be the judge if there is a noticeable pattern, but I say “Yikes.”

April: 3-1 record in five starts, 3.57 ERA, 33 innings pitched, 29 hits allowed, 12 earned runs, seven walks, 23 strikeouts and four home runs allowed.

May: 2-1 record in six starts, 4.03 ERA, 38 innings pitched, 51 hits allowed, 17 earned runs, eight walks, 37 strikeouts and four home runs allowed.

June: 1-2 record, 5.79 ERA, 23 1/3 innings pitched in four starts, 29 hits, 15 earned runs, four walks, 11 strikeouts and five home runs allowed.
