Where have you gone Bronson Arroyo?

I was on NECN Sports Latenight with Mike Giardi Sunday night, and he asked me a great question: "Which member of the 2004 Boston Red Sox World Series team do you miss the most?"

I quickly answered that Johnny Damon was probably the guy I missed most for the loose, joking and light atmosphere he helped foster in the Red Sox clubhouse (something they're sometimes missing now) and his ability to take the media spotlight pressure of other less outgoing or media-friendly teammates...not to mention his ability to get on base and score a ton of runs, which Julio Lugo and his .274 on base percentage.

But right-hander Bronson Arroyo was another fun-loving member of that Olde Towne Team that had a certain "presence" in the Sox clubhouse and was up-front, friendly and candid without ever once coming off as the least bit phony or self-serving. With that in mind, here's a few Arroyo items from the weekend for those that also miss the crooning right-hander and his cover of 'Dirty Water.'

This from Paul Hoynes at the Cleveland Plain Dealer, setting the scene for the Indians/Reds series:

Clubhouse confidential: Cincinnati Reds pitcher Bronson Arroyo was practicing his bunting Saturday afternoon when a loud voice emerged from the tunnel of the Indians dugout.

"Come on, Arroyo, get the ball down!" yelled the voice time and time again.

The voice belonged to Indians outfielder Trot Nixon, Arroyo's former teammate with the Boston Red Sox.

And then there's this from the Cincinnati Reds web site, where the first 20,000 fans at Friday night's game at the Great American Ballpark got a very cool promotional item -- especially for those of us that are increasingly follicley challenged.
