With that Buchholz is done, 5 2/3 innings pitched, two hits and eight strikeouts...all in all, very impressive. Buchholz sits at 91-93-mph for much of the game but jacked his velocity up to 95 or 96 when he needed a little extra and he thoroughly dominated Coste in that final at bat. Coste was a 33-year-old rookie that hit .328 in 68 big league games with the Phills last season, and was just returned to Reading from the big club at Philly. Coste was on the roster in place of Ryan Howard during his quad injury, and had just returned to the minors.
All that being said, he was the closest thing to a big league hitter in Reading's lineup today, and Buchholz made him look totally ineffective and overmartched in three at bats...pretty good stuff.
