Living in Clayboy's world

Greetings from Portland, Maine where I'm getting my first look of the season at 22-year-old Clay Bachholz, prized pitching prospect in the Boston Red Sox organization. Buchholz is somebody I've heard quite a bit about, but never actually seen in person -- so this should be a treat.
A few things about the flame-throwing righty:
--in the great tradition of Texas gunslingers, Buchholz is another fire-breathing, flame-throwing native of the Lone Star State.
--with seven strikeouts today, Buchholz would become the first pitcher in Portland Sea Dogs history to whiff seven batters in at least eight straight starts.
--the shortstop and ninth batter for the visiting Philadelphia Phillies is none other than Michael Garciaparra, younger brother to you-know-who. Nomar's little bro cut ties with the Seattle Mariners organization at the end of last season after never really panning out as the 36th selection in the first round of the 2001 draft.
I'll have something on Kid Buchholz next week in the Boston Metro, but I'll also blog every couple of innings to update how he's doing today...first pitch in about 20 minutes.
