Secaucus or Bust...

It seems funny to discuss anything other than Yankees/Red Sox when the Olde Towne Team is in the belly of the Bronx beast, but the Hub has apparently contracted Lottery Fever in the hours leading up to the David Stern show in Secaucus, New Jersey.
The Celts have roughly a 39.7 percent chance of watching oversized leprechaun Tommy Heinsohn come through and land the Celts one of the top two picks, which will in turn give them a chance at a once-in-a-decade franchise player in Greg Odem or a superstar-in-the-making in Kevin Durant. It would be the chance to right a decade-long wrong after the Celts missed out on Tim Duncan in the Lottery selection some ten years ago, and it’s seemingly the only shot the Boston winter sports scene has of escaping mediocrity anytime soon. For that reason alone, it’s worth rooting for.
I plan on watching the Lottery selection show with a bunch of my buddies at the Grand Canal on Canal Street, and just hope that the ping pong process ends with the smug, I-just-put-away-a-carton-of-cigarettes-all-by-myself Tommy Heinsohn badly attempting to mask his hubris rather than the yelling and screaming “I’m-wearing-emerald-colored-glasses-and-think-Kendrick Perkins-is-a-legitimate-NBA-center” version of Heinsohn that starts piping up about “hard fouls” and plays the role of Johnny Most homer.
Anyway, on to some Sox business….am on my way out the door to watch the Cathedral baseball team who is coached by none other than Manuel “Cookie” Delcarmen – father of recently recalled Sox pitcher Manny Delcarmen. Plan to ask him about his son being called up and what it’s been like to watch the ups and downs of his son attempting to make his way through the first three full seasons in the big leagues – when the options are endless and you can get bounced back and forth on the “Merloni/Youkilis” shuttle between Pawtucket and Boston an endless amount of times. Should be interesting…be back to post in a bit but I will leave you with this for now:
